Paraneoplastic syndrome

Whole Body Systems
Head & Neck

Paraneoplastic syndromes are a group of conditions caused by an abnormal immune response to a tumour elsewhere in the body. They can affect the nervous system and other organs. An MRI may show changes in the brain or spinal cord consistent with a paraneoplastic process. Identifying a paraneoplastic process may lead to discovery of an underlying tumour that has not yet caused obvious symptoms.
