Pelvic floor dysfunction happens when the muscles and connective tissue of the pelvic floor do not work properly. It can cause bladder, bowel, or pelvic symptoms that are often attributed to other causes. An MRI may show changes in pelvic floor structures consistent with dysfunction. Identifying pelvic floor dysfunction early may allow for targeted physiotherapy and treatment before symptoms worsen.
