A perinephric haematoma is a collection of blood around the kidney, most commonly from injury or a bleeding kidney growth. It may be found unexpectedly on imaging. An MRI may show a blood collection around the kidney consistent with a haematoma. Finding a perinephric haematoma prompts investigation into the underlying cause, including the possibility of a bleeding kidney tumour.
