Polycythaemia vera is a blood cancer where the bone marrow produces too many red blood cells. It increases the risk of blood clots and can affect multiple organs. An MRI may show changes in organs consistent with vascular complications from this condition. Finding complications of polycythaemia vera early may allow for treatment to help reduce clotting risk and prevent organ damage.
