A renal angiomyolipoma is a noncancerous tumour made up of blood vessels, muscle, and fat that grows in the kidney. Most are found unexpectedly and cause no symptoms. An MRI may show a fatty mass in the kidney consistent with an angiomyolipoma. Finding an angiomyolipoma early allows for monitoring of its size, as larger ones carry a small risk of bleeding.
