Splenomegaly

Abdomen & Pelvis
Whole Body Systems

Splenomegaly is when the spleen grows beyond its normal size. It can happen for many reasons including infection, liver disease, or blood disorders. An MRI may show an enlarged spleen as part of its abdominal assessment. Identifying an enlarged spleen prompts investigation into the underlying cause before complications develop.
