Tuberous sclerosis

Whole Body Systems
Head & Neck

Tuberous sclerosis is a genetic condition that causes noncancerous tumours to grow in many parts of the body including the brain, kidneys, heart, and lungs. It varies widely in severity. An MRI may show characteristic growths in multiple organs consistent with tuberous sclerosis. Finding tuberous sclerosis early allows for monitoring and management of organ involvement that may help prevent complications from developing.
