Wilson's disease

Whole Body Systems

Wilson's disease is a genetic condition causing copper to build up in organs including the liver, brain, and eyes. It can cause liver disease and neurological symptoms before diagnosis. An MRI may show changes in the brain and liver consistent with copper build-up. Finding Wilson's disease early may allow for treatment to remove excess copper before irreversible organ damage occurs.
